thetechpencil is an online publication operated by Deadpunch Enterprises, Inc. This policy describes how we collect and handle information when you visit thetechpencil.com.
What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the publication and improve the reading experience. Here is exactly what we store:
Newsletter Subscribers
When you subscribe, Substack collects your email address and manages newsletter delivery for thetechpencil. Substack's terms and privacy policy appear in the signup form. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Contact Form Submissions
If you reach out through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you write. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry.
Page View Analytics
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how the site is used. This includes:
- Page path — which articles you read
- Referrer — how you found us (e.g., search engine, social media)
- User agent — your browser and operating system type
- Country — general geographic location (not precise)
- Device type — mobile, desktop, or tablet
This data is stored in aggregate and is not linked to your identity. We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not sell or share this data with third parties.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site traffic patterns. Google Analytics may set its own cookies. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Leads & Consulting Inquiries
If you inquire about consulting services, we may collect your name, email, and phone number. This information is used exclusively to follow up on your inquiry and is never shared with third parties.
How We Store Your Data
All data is stored using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled on all tables. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
- We do not run targeted advertising.
- We do not share your data with data brokers or marketing platforms.
- We do not use tracking pixels from social media platforms.
- We do not collect payment information (we have no paywall).
Your Rights
You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing contact@thetechpencil.com. We will remove your information from our systems within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
thetechpencil does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without your explicit consent.
